Finally … An Appropriately Designed Chair Mat!

I recently purchased an office chair mat (see picture below) to replace one that was worn out.

When I arrived at the store, I was pleasantly surprised to see that a simple feature had been incorporated – hand holds (see picture below).

It’s amazing how a simple design change made the difference between hand pain from having to grasp the cleated underside and painfree transport from the store / placement in the office.  Now if they could only make them last longer!

The hand holds do indeed make the mat easier to move however, I’ve found that the hand holds to not lie flat and are a trip hazard. They are a the perfect place for the heel of a woman’s dress shoe (aka the pump) to get caught! I’ve removed the hand holds on the ones in my home/office.

Good point Jamie. Based on your experiences, it sounds like a better design would allow for the hand holds to be removed after transport from the store and placement within the office.
