Last week, Modern Healthcare hosted a webinar entitled “Patient Safety: 10 Years After the Landmark IOM Report, How Much Have We Learned?” with featured speakers Robert Wachter, M.D. and George Reuther.

The webinar focused on identifying what progress has been accomplished to increase patient safety within the health care community since the Institute of Medicine published the report “To Err is Human: Building a Safer Health System.”  Presentation slides for Dr. Wachter and Mr. Reuther can be downloaded here (4.63 MB, .pdf) and here (2.04 MB, .pdf), respectively.  Moreover, much of Dr. Wachter’s talk focused on his recently published Health Affairs article, “Patient Safety At Ten: Unmistakable Progress, Troubling Gaps.”  Overall, progress has been made, but additional work is still needed to maximize patient safety.
