Last Friday, I participated in the simulcast of the Startup Lessons Learned conference.  According to the conference website, it:

“…is the first event designed to unite those interested in what it takes to succeed in building a lean startup. The goal for this event is to give practitioners and students of the lean startup methodology the opportunity to hear insights from leaders in embracing and deploying the core principles of the lean startup methodology. The day-long event will feature a mix of panels and talks focused on the key challenges and issues that technical and market-facing people at startups need to understand in order to succeed in building successful lean startups.”

The simulcast was hosted by Balihoo and 8th Street Marketplace, with most of the “heavy lifting” coming from the efforts of Kevin Donaldson (@kevind).

Overall, I find the concept of lean startups compelling – especially the focus on customer development.  Given that I’m still processing much of the day’s events, I’ll refrain from making additional comments for the time being.

Last night, Dean Kamen was on The Colbert Report demonstrating the DEKA arm, which was developed for DARPA’s Revolutionizing Prosthetics program.  That video, along with videos from Dean’s recent TED talk and 60 minutes, are provided below.
