Multitasking Issues Discussed in the News
The New York Times has published four articles this week in the ”Your Brain on Computers” series. Below are links to each one:
- Hooked on Gadgets, and Paying a Mental Price
- An Ugly Toll of Technology: Impatience and Forgetfulness
- More American Sense a Downside to an Always Plugged-In Existence
- The Risks of Parenting While Plugged In
The articles follow on the heels of recently publish book, “The Shallows: What the Internet is Doing to Our Brains” by Nicholas Carr, which expresses the authors concerns that the Internet is causing irreparable harm to the way we interact with and process information. I’m currently reading the book and will post a review next week.

Boise in the News
In the last month, Boise has received several positive write-ups and rankings in the national press. Some of them include:
- The Economist published “In Praise of Boise,” which lauded local startup Balihoo.
- No. 16 on Forbes list of “America’s Most Innovative Cities.”
- No. 8 on Life’s list of “Most Underrated Cities in the West.”
It’s great to see those outside the region recognizing what locals have known for years – Boise is a great place to live and start a business.
